ABOUT US
Gethsemane Foundation is a faith-based, non-profit organization founded in 2025 and based in Kigali, Gasabo District, Rwanda. We exist to transform lives by responding to the spiritual, physical, emotional, and socio-economic needs of the most vulnerable—especially women, children, and youth.
Our work is rooted in Christian values of love, compassion, integrity, and service. We believe that every human being is created with worth and potential, regardless of their background or current circumstances. At Gethsemane Foundation, we see people not as beneficiaries, but as individuals with dreams, strengths, and the ability to build a better future when given the right support.
The name “Gethsemane” is inspired by the biblical Garden of Gethsemane—a place of deep struggle, prayer, surrender, and ultimately transformation. This name reflects our mission to walk alongside individuals and families during their most difficult seasons, offering not only practical help but also emotional and spiritual support. We stand with those who feel forgotten, helping them rise from despair to renewed hope.
We take a holistic approach to development, addressing the spiritual, physical, emotional, and socio-economic needs of communities. Our programs focus on poverty eradication, child nutrition and protection, women’s empowerment, youth mentorship, vocational skills development, access to healthcare, small livestock farming, early childhood education, and family restoration. Each initiative is designed to create sustainable impact by equipping people with skills, knowledge, and confidence rather than creating dependency.
Women are at the heart of our mission. We work closely with widows, single mothers, and survivors of gender-based violence, empowering them through vocational training, entrepreneurship support, savings groups, and mentorship. By strengthening women, we strengthen families and entire communities.
Children and youth are our future. Through nutrition programs, early childhood education support, sports and life-skills activities, and mentorship, we ensure that young people grow up healthy, confident, and prepared to contribute positively to society. We also support vulnerable families with access to health insurance, ensuring that illness does not push them deeper into poverty.
At the community level, we collaborate with local leaders, churches, health centers, and partner organizations to ensure our interventions are relevant, culturally sensitive, and sustainable. Our work is driven by compassion, guided by integrity, and sustained through partnership.
Gethsemane Foundation exists to restore hope where it has been lost, to empower those who have been marginalized, and to build communities where individuals can live fulfilled, dignified, and purposeful lives. Together with our partners, donors, and volunteers, we are committed to transforming lives—not just for today, but for generations to come.
